The presented book is a result of the work of several people from five psychological academic centers: Leuven (Belgium), Madrid (Spain), and from Lublin, Warsaw and Wroclaw in Poland. The issues are determined by such concepts as: time perspective, time orientation, future time perspective, time attitude, and temporal competence. These concepts are specified in the context of the presented research tools used for the purpose of determining, firstly, the individual (age, sex, and sense of control over life events and goals) and situational (existential life aspects) antecedents of the time orientation preferences. Secondly, the presented research tools were used for the purpose of determining the motivational consequences of cognitive and dynamic aspects of the time orientation and temporal competencies, and how these effects relate to already present intrinsic motivation and task orientation. (from the Introduction)
